Experience Spreewald

The Spreewald is a beautiful landscape located in the southeast of the state Brandenburg. It is one of the most famous travel destinations in Germany. This biospere reserve invites you into a natural landscape with ist unique flora and fauna that will leave a mark on you long after your visit.

On 12th September 1990, the Spreewald, structured in Ober- and Unterspreewald, was declared a protective area and registered on the list of UNESCO’s bioshere reserves. Protected is a landscape with fields, forests and a 971km long, gracefully built waterway system. Here, the river Spree and river Malxe connect into 300 natural and artificial waterways.

Due to the unique flora and fauna of the Spreewald, it is also an ideal habitat for rare animals such as the Black Stork and endangered species such as the hoopoe, otter and curlew. A huge biodiversity has developed in this open natural landscape. The biosphere reserve Spreewald holds approximately 20.000 different animal and plant species.

The Spreewald has also established a special way of way of life for the people who live here. Many people still depend on barges to travel on the waterways to reach their homes which enhances the uniqueness of the Spreewald.

The Logierhaus

In a quiet location directly on a waterway in the Spreewald village Lehde you will find our Logierhaus Lehde. Built in 1900 and renovated in 2005, the Logierhaus offers 12 comfortable double-rooms in the middle of the Spreewald.

Restaurants, the Spreewaldaquarium and the historical Spreewald museum are located within walking distance from the Logierhaus. From the Logierhaus, visitors can hop directly into a canoe or rent a bike to explore the Spreewald on their own.
